Becoming A Foster Family

Fostering a rescue animal is one of the most fulfilling experiences for an animal lover. By becoming a foster caregiver, you provide a temporary home for an animal in need, ensuring they receive shelter and care for a designated period or until they are adopted. We take the time to match you with an animal that fits well with your family and living environment.

Our rescue organization covers all financial expenses related to fostering and offers 24/7 support to our foster families. If you are interested in fostering, please visit the "Application" link below and complete the foster application form. To expedite the approval process, we kindly request that you include your Criminal Record Screening Certificate along with your application that can be sent to

10 Reasons To Foster A Rescue Dog

1. Fostering a dog brings warmth and happiness into your home while offering flexibility.

2. Fostering accommodates any lifestyle. It’s a temporary arrangement that allows you to welcome a dog into your home without a long-term commitment—unless, of course, you fall in love and decide to adopt!

3. By fostering, you help create additional space at the rescue. Each dog that finds a foster home makes room for another in need of a safe haven.

4. Fostering provides a dog with the individual attention they may not receive in a crowded shelter. Many dogs require special care, particularly those recovering from injuries or experiencing behavioral challenges due to their previous living conditions. Some dogs may not thrive in the stressful atmosphere of a rescue environment.

5. You can offer a young puppy a nurturing environment until they are ready for adoption. Puppies need a safe space to grow and develop, as they typically aren’t ready for their forever homes until at least eight weeks old. An experienced foster caregiver can attend to their needs during this crucial period.

6. You will assist the shelter in gaining insights about the dog, aiding in finding the perfect family for them. Understanding the dog’s personality—whether they are shy or outgoing, how they behave around children or in parks, and their behavior on a leash—enables the rescue to identify the best potential adoptive home.

7. You’ll help acclimate the dog to being around people and other pets. If you have existing pets, the foster dog will benefit from learning to interact within a pack, as dogs learn valuable behaviors from one another.

8. Fostering allows you to evaluate your readiness for full-time pet ownership with minimal financial commitment. Many rescues offer reimbursements for expenses incurred during the fostering process, providing your family with a chance to experience life with a pet and decide if it’s the right time to adopt.

9. Fostering teaches children responsibility and compassion for animals. Engaging with a dog enables them to learn about the commitment involved in pet care while enjoying the companionship.

10. You might just fall in love! It’s common for foster caregivers to develop a deep bond with their dogs, leading to what some refer to as a “foster fail,” meaning the dog has found its forever home with you. If you’re seeking a meaningful way to contribute to your community, consider fostering a dog! It will be a rewarding experience for your entire family as you open your home and heart to a dog in need, all while helping to create space for more animals awaiting their forever homes at your local rescue.
